Resume Talk to Elizabeth
Elizabeth Spencer - Works

On the Gulf - 1991

On the Gulf is an assembly
of stories set in places adjacent to
the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean.
All had been previously published,
but it was the idea of the University
Press of Mississippi that altogether
they would make an impressive
collection. When they had the
additional idea of including art work
by that fine Mississippi artist Walter
Anderson, I readily consented.
It was amazing to me how many
stories I had written about the area
‘below the salt line.’ The stories are
set in places as varied as New Orleans,
Key West and a Caribbean island.
The Walter Anderson drawings spring
from his devotion to the Gulf Coast area.
